Keep SEO and Marketing Initiatives Properly Aligned

Make sure your marketing plans are properly aligned with your search engine optimization (SEO) initiatives. SEO typically falls under the umbrella of marketing for good reason as its main focus is promoting the website. But, many general marketing initiatives can fail to leverage SEO tactics. For example, have an SEO colleague optimize each press release with keyword-centric titles, anchor text links and keyphrase repetition. Another example is successful integration of online and offline marketing efforts for link building purposes. For example, if your company is working with a partner or sponsor, most likely they have a website in which you can secure a link from – and if they already link to your site, ensure it’s a keyword-centric text link or has an alt tag if it’s an image link. Go through your marketing plan with your SEO team and identify where SEO can be leveraged – you’ll be surprised by the amount of integration points.
