Part Two: Speeding Up the Web
Posted
December 21, 2009
Last week, our tip focused on page load speed and how signs point to Google using the amount of time it takes pages on your site to load as a factor in their algorithm. We want to continue the discussion this week because Google has made this topic a central theme when talking about Search in 2010. Last Friday, Jack Menzel, a Group Product Manager at Google blogged about the evolution of time-to-result during the past decade. The Verndale SEM tip this week is quite simple: read Jack’s blog post. We think it’s a great recap of Google’s 2009 efforts and provides a look into their focus in 2010, which is best summed up by, "Above all else, we care about getting you an answer as fast as possible, and we do this through not only improving our search results but also by working with the web community to speed up the entire web."
