Redirects vs. 301 Redirects and the Impact on Search

It is critical during any new development or site upkeep initiative where pages are being renamed to implement 301 Redirects. Simply using Redirects to transition old pages to new holds very little value other than for providing a quick fix. When properly implemented, 301 Redirects allow old pages and the search engine authority that they have built up over the years to be remapped and indexed appropriately. In doing so, the new pages lose little to no SEO traction which has built up over the life of the original page. 301 Redirects are the most efficient and SEO friendly method for transitioning and remapping and is essential in maintaining a strong online search presence. Make sure you speak with your development team so that you don?t lose any ground.
