SEO Tips for Mobile Search

According to the Search Engine Journal, mobile searchers are much further along in the buying cycle than expected. Not only that, but searchers are typically using their phones to locate businesses close to where they are located. If your business wants to target these mobile searchers, then your company should act fast because mobile search is growing at a rate faster than PC search. Optimizing your website for mobile search is the first step to targeting these mobile searchers. Start by checking your web analytics to discover how many users access your site with a mobile device. Then using the mobile feature under the “advanced options” within Google’s Keyword Tool, build a targeted keyword list that’s specific to your mobile audience. Keep in mind organic and paid search results via a mobile device are slightly different than web results. The biggest difference is that local results appear more often on the mobile search engine results page (SERP), so make sure your Google Places page is fully complete and optimized. It is also important to create an enjoyable experience for your mobile users so they come back to your mobile website. Work with your design/development team to deliver mobile-formatted content to ensure a high quality experience for your visitors.
