Take Advantage of goo.gl API Access

Posted January 10, 2011

Google is going even further to expand its URL shortener, “goo.gl,” with the most recent launch of goog.gl API (application programming interface) access. Google’s URL shortener was released to the public in 2010 and is used to shrink URLs so that they are easier to share on social networking sites. The new API functionality will allow developers to integrate the URL shortener with their own applications, giving marketers and website owners the ability to track click through rates and receive analytical data via the goo.gl dashboard. The API is available on Google’s Code Labs site along with step-by-step instructions on how to implement the programmable URL shortener. Marketers and developers should leverage the API to access one of the fastest URL shorteners out there, to shrink URLs securely and monitor the traffic to those links as well.
