The New Google Should Make You Reassess Your Content Inventory

Google launched a major overhaul of its SERP this week with a three column, colorful design. The new UI adds "search options" into a column on the left; main search results appear in the middle, in a wider column; and PPC ads appear in the right column. Google said the reason for the update is a response "to the increasing richness of the web and the increasing power of search". The left-hand column, "search options" allows users to refine their search to view different results in the form of News, Blogs, Images, Videos, Books, Products, Updates, Discussions, and more. These search opinions links will increase the exposure of all of these content types, which is why you should reassess your digital assets to ensure you are maximizing exposure to your prospective audience. Work with your search engine marketing team to gauge how your website is performing on the new Google.
