Top Methods for Removing URLs from Google

Organizations around the world are generating lots of content and putting it on the Web, but what happens when a faulty blog post is posted or confidential information becomes exposed accidentally? One top method for removing URLs from Google would be to use an .htaccess file that you paste into your Website. Using an .htaccess file you can password protect a subdirectory or even your entire website if necessary. This will prevent Google bots from getting to that URL and it will not be indexed. Although Google does not provide an .htaccess tool in the Webmaster console, there are several tools available on the Web. A second way to remove URLs from Google would be to use the URL Removal Tool that is available in Google Webmaster tools. Once you have proven that you are the site owner, you can remove your URL from the subdirectory until it is safe to start crawling again. The tool will also allow you to revoke any requests that are made by mistake. For more information on removing URLs from Google visit the Webmaster Central Blog.
