Use Google Analytics to Setup Your Google Webmaster Tools Profile

Since so many of our clients are Google Analytics customers, we had to share Google’s announcement from earlier this week regarding verifying a Google Webmaster Tools profile by linking it to your existing Google Analytics account. As we explained a few weeks ago, Google Webmaster Tools helps diagnose indexing and performance issues with your site. Web owners are encouraged to setup a profile for their website, which previously required ownership verification by any three methods: adding a new DNS record, adding a meta tag to the homepage, or uploading an HTML file to the server. For many site owners, this required working with their third party web vendor in order to verify access. Now, there is a fourth option, which lets you link your Google Analytics Account as long as you have administrator access to your Google Analytics profile. Also, it is required that you use Google Analytics' asynchronous code snippet, which is a faster loading tracking code snippet that they launched last year. If you need help understanding the information in Google Webmaster Tools, work with your SEO team to ensure your website is performing optimally.
