Nothing screams summer more than lobsters, fresh air, sunshine, laughter, field games and boat rides – all great things about Verndale’s 2nd annual summer outing on Thompson Island. On September 2, Verndale employees met at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in South Boston to load the ferry and depart for Boston Harbor’s only private island. The spirit of camaraderie was alive as team members boarded the ferry and began to unwind together from the hectic week.

With smooth waters and sunny skies, the team arrived at Thompson Island in no time and jumped right into a full afternoon of good food and great fun. Cold beverages were served soon after our arrival, along with a delicious lunch which included lobster, chicken, salad, bread rolls, clam chowder, corn on the cob and more. Verndale employees cracked lobsters together and celebrated the company’s successful season with grace and style.

After lunch had ended and employees were newly energized, the day continued with vigorous competition across an action-packed field. The Boston city skyline provided the perfect backdrop as employees played horseshoes, Frisbee and volleyball, while other team members relaxed and caught some of the last rays of the hot summer sun.

As the fun-filled day came to an end, it was time to return to the dock and catch the boat back to the city. The second annual summer outing proved to be as enjoyable as the first and employees left the island with great memories to keep until next year. A special thanks to Laura Ragno for planning the event and Surat Thairdthai for taking so many great photos.
