Background

The Boston Foundation is one of Boston’s great civic leadership organizations and a major fundraising force. It provides capital for nonprofits and also supports special initiatives and grants.

Need

TBF needed to re-engineer their website to fit their identity, their role and their functions. The new site had to target three audiences: donors, professional advisors and grant seekers. The site also had to highlight the Foundation’s groundbreaking civic leadership work.

Solution

In an effort to best serve the needs of different user groups, Verndale conducted strategy sessions to gain a clear understanding of The Boston Foundation’s drivers and processes. Following the discovery phase, the team developed several design ideas that thoughtfully executed a multi-purpose strategy. From there, we also implemented an Ektron content management for updated functionality, a standardized look and feel, and streamlined usability to serve different content editors.

Result

The Boston Foundation loved our ability to satisfy complicated requirements and strategy without disrupting their website's flow or creating an excessively complex navigation system. Our success with tbf.org led to a subsequent engagement, redesigning the award-winning Boston Indicators website, which provides a "health of the city" rating and compares it to the global marketplace.
