Background:
Based in Portland, Maine, Barber Foods is an independent, family-owned consumer packaged goods company, manufacturing frozen poultry products for their retail, foodservice and club divisions. Since 1955, Barber Foods has been driven by a passion for good food with a dedicated staff that takes great pride in preparing products with the highest quality standards in the food industry.

Need:
Barber Foods worked together with GdB Marketing Agency to create a new brand position for their organization. A critical piece to this engagement was having a clear translation of this new brand, used in television and other mediums, to the web. The ease of navigation with the new site, along with a content management tool, which allowed for effortless distribution of new content, was a vital component for their new site.

Solution:
Verndale worked to redevelop the information architecture and navigation, greatly enhancing site use while employing SEO tactics that provided a much more user-friendly experience with strengthened search engine visibility. Verndale also integrated Sitecore CMS, giving Barber Foods greater control to add new content and update product information. In addition, they now have the ability to link to other websites such as surveys, coupons, product registration and rewards sites.

Sitecore was also integrated with a Nielsen database for the ability to find a specific product that was geographically closest to the user. Also, the flash interface within the site's homepage engages users more, allowing them to quickly find product recipes and promotion information.

Results:
The new website communicates the efforts put forth by Barber Foods to introduce new and/or improved products while continuing to increase Barber Foods' brand awareness. Audiences can now visually connect to offline materials, television, and online assets into one marketing "system."

In addition, Verndale‘s post-launch SEO performance report produced some successful results as the overall direct traffic and search referrals increased by 76% and 31% respectively, along with a 50% increase in total visibility within the three major search engines, pre-launch to post-launch.
