Background:
CatholicTV® is a television network that broadcasts local and national religious programming and live events for the Catholic audience. CatholicTV is the largest diocesan Catholic television station and Catholic Broadband Network in the world and presents a unique blend of spiritual, educational, and entertaining programming. Broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, CatholicTV is committed to helping people come alive in their Faith by encountering the Truth and the love of God revealed by Jesus Christ. Life-changing treasures in the Church have remained “buried” for many Catholics. CatholicTV strives to unfold and explore Christian treasures in a way that is faithful, dynamic and understandable. By doing this, CatholicTV hopes to help ordinary people awaken their Faith, and help them develop a more vital relationship with God.
Need:
CatholicTV wanted to expand access to their website through the use of custom mobile applications and video content distribution.
Solution:
Verndale worked with CatholicTV to develop both an iPhone App and Widget, named CatholicTVjr. The CatholicTV App was designed to offer accessibility to a wealth of content for people on the move, made available through the iPhone and iTouch. The App connects users with popular segments like this day's Mass, a daily Rosary from around the nation and the world, a brief reflection to bolster Faith and news about what's happening at the Catholic Broadband Network.
CatholicTVjr was created for the purpose of sharing CatholicTV video content, which can be easily embedded into third party websites. The Widget can be customized based on user preferences and built to showcase a desired video series, which becomes a tailor-made version of CatholicTV.com.
CatholicTV's custom content management system developed by Verndale allows these applications to pull content from a single repository making the distribution seamless.
Results:
Online viewers now have more options available, further enhancing their viewing experience and in turn, broadening the message of CatholicTV.

These valuable additions have allowed us to promote CatholicTV through additional areas, firmly expanding brand awareness and increasing traffic back to our website. Our viewers are now able to watch streaming video through their mobile devices and embed our programming into their own websites, free of charge.
