About the Hosting & Networking Technician Position
We are currently seeking a Hosting & Networking Technician, reporting to the Director of Hosting & Networking, to assist in managing operations of our hosted services program. The qualified candidate will be responsible for daily operations of our hosting environment and will also be a key contributor in complex data center migration projects. This position is ideal for an ambitious, highly energetic, goal oriented IT professional who has a solid understanding and demonstrated experience in networking, server/systems architecture, storage, and application hosting.
Responsibilities
- Manage the hosted Production Web and Database Environments.
- Monitor systems/networks and validate alarms from monitoring tools, administering first-level troubleshooting and support providing confirmation of issues and events.
- Perform day-to-day tasks, which will include verifying site(s) functionality, backup media management and release management.
- Ensure and maintain high availability standards for all servers and infrastructure supported by Verndale.
- Assist Verndale Engineering, Project Management, and Support teams in support of customer requirements when engaged.
- Understand Verndale's infrastructure components and supporting tool set.
- Respond to and update tickets in accordance with department procedures.
- Perform written and verbal turnover of open issues/upcoming maintenance.
- Ensure that the facility inventory is updated and accurate on a regular basis, based upon moves, additions, and changes.
- When appropriate, escalate issues quickly and efficiently in order to solve problems within Verndale's Service Level Agreement requirements.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of two years computer operations center experience.
- Knowledge and experience providing support in a web development environment is desired.
- Must be detail-oriented, have strong troubleshooting skills, communication and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of IT environments including LAN/WAN communications, technologies and system hosting infrastructure and platforms is required.
- PC applications experience - - such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be familiar with fundamental operations concepts such as change control, importance of good documentation and problem ownership.
- Must have the ability to work productively mission critical team environment.
- Proven ability to execute multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to produce quality work on a consistent basis.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to manage assigned tasks with limited management input.
