About the Information Architect Position

Verndale is now hiring an Information Architect to join its growing Department of Operation and Architecture . The qualified candidate will be using a user-centered approach, to research and discover the needs of the end user (Verndale's clients), architect the flow of information and create the visual compositions to optimize the effectiveness of the applications.

Responsibilities

  • Organize diverse requirements into an intuitive, coherent, easy to navigate application
  • Create compelling user interface designs that address the target audience's needs
  • Develop designs that simulate the application for users to provide feedback and validate the interaction design prior to development
  • Depending on the problem, these designs may be presented as whiteboards, sketches. Paper prototypes, wireframes, mockups, or functional prototypes
  • Work with the other members of the User Experience and Design Group to create visual comps of the UI
  • Learn client subject matter and identify design challenges
  • Determine how to organize and present information, how to navigate the application, and how to create and present usable and sassily navigable solutions
  • Help educate the application users about the problems that interaction design and navigation can, and cannot, solve
  • Simplify the presentation of (often) complex content, making information easy to find and understand.
  • Assist in making the application interactions effective and easy to use

Qualifications

  • Expertise in user-centered design (UCD), including eliciting user needs, discerning different user types and tasks, facilitating consensus among stakeholders, creating low and high fidelity prototypes , and documenting design decisions
  • Experience with user research methodologies
  • Knowledge of user interface design best practices and standards
  • Self-directed with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines and manage multiple assignments with, sometimes, conflicting priorities
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid track record of eliciting and defining user requirements, interviewing subject matter experts, and creating prototype user interfaces
  • Experience defining interaction design
