Verndale Employees Support Rebuilding Together Boston
Dec 08, 2022
Since 2015, Verndale has partnered with Rebuilding Together Boston (RTB) to support revitalizing homes, parks, and other spaces in the local community. This work is completed as part of the agency's Verndale Cares program - an important way for Verndale employees to give back by volunteering their time.
The Verndale Cares program focuses on supporting philanthropic causes, adopting pro-bono accounts, and enabling volunteer efforts for employees to impact the communities in which we live and work. This past November, team members from Verndale volunteered time to RTB to demo and install a new kitchen, landscape, paint, and repair a local woman's home.
RTB is part of a national organization that renovates houses for people unable to pay for essential home repairs and much-needed updates. RTB organizes skilled workers, tradespeople, volunteers, and other community members to help preserve affordable housing, stabilize neighborhoods, provide safe and secure independence to clients, and reduce the risk of homelessness.
"Rebuild day is one of our favorite volunteer activities. Being able to interact directly with the homeowners and their families really emphasizes the immediate impact our work has on improving their homes and lives. It's challenging work, but it is well worth it. We have learned a lot from the projects we've executed over the years we've participated, from plumbing, rebuilding kitchens, and laying new floors, to installing windows and doors! We can't wait for the next opportunity, " said Nicole Johnson, Verndale's VP of Research & Development, Operations.
"We do a fair number of volunteer events and National Rebuild Day is by far my favorite. The renovation work is actually great and the ability to put in a day's worth of work and directly see the impact you can make for someone in need is incredibly rewarding. The teams we work with have always been great and it clearly is an organization that truly believes in the work they do, which makes all the difference," said Sean Connell, Verndale's COO.
Participating in projects like this one continues Verndale's commitment to supporting communities where people live, work, and play.
